Faculty, residents, fellows, and community physicians in General Internal Medicine and subspecialties

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize that the contraceptive needs of some women with rheumatic diseases may not be met.
  • Recognize that some women with rheumatic diseases do obtain access to highly-effective contraception, and are at increased risk of pregnancy-related complications.
  • Describe how provide-level, patient-level, and systems-level interventions may help to fill gaps in family planning care for women with rheumatic diseases.
  • Describe the prevalence of carbon monoxide poisoning in the United States.
  • Learn the underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms of carbon monoxide toxicity.
  • Explain the current understanding of hyperbaric oxygen therapy mechanism of action of carbon monoxide poisoning and limitations of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
  • Explain how chronic pain is an important comorbidity in PLWH, and how behavioral interventions are a promising approach to chronic pain.
  • Examine STOMP, a behavioral intervention for chronic pain tailored to PLWH, is feasible, acceptable, and shows promise for future impact.
