Target Audience:

Physicians and non-physician practitioners who provide clinical services, or staff and students who encounter protected health information at University of Pittsburgh facilities. All staff and faculty working in other HIPAA-covered departments at the University of Pittsburgh. All students, staff and faculty in the Schools of Health Sciences

Educational Objectives:

As a result of participating in this activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Improve their management of the responsibilities of privacy and security as related to protecting patient information
  • Implement safeguards for protecting patient information
  • Closely follow recommended processes and procedures in the event that they suspect a breach may have occurred
  • Access and apply University of Pittsburgh policies pertaining to privacy and security compliance
