Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Examine Policy HS-HD-CP-05 “Guidelines for Planned Moderate Sedation for Therapeutic or Diagnostic Procedure”
  • Examine Policy HS-HD-CP-06 “Guidelines for Planned Deep Sedation for Therapeutic or Diagnostic Procedure”
  • Identify the requirements for a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) to be credentialed to prescribe moderate sedation.
  • Describe the required monitoring parameters for patients receiving moderate or deep sedation.
  • Identify special considerations & age specific parameters for the patient undergoing moderate or deep sedation.
  • Examine the documentation requirements during sedation cases.
