Target Audience:

This activity is directed to physicians who take care of hospitalized children, medical students, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants working in the emergency room, intensive care unit, or hospital wards.

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the increase in albuterol usage for bronchiolitis occurring in pediatric intensive care units nationally.
  • Discuss the evidence base behind using albuterol for bronchiolitis in critically ill pediatric patients.
  • Discuss how the American Academy of Pediatrics bronchiolitis guidelines apply to the patients in the pediatric intensive care units.
