Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe expected time to desaturation in healthy and critically ill patients.
  • Utilize noninvasive positive pressure preoxygenation strategies prior to intubation in critically ill patients
  • Decrease incidence of pre-intubation hypoxemia in critically ill patients.
