Target Audience:

Physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals who provide prenatal care, inpatient maternity care, and postpartum care.

Educational Objectives:

At the completion of this module participants will be able to:

  • Identify common challenges faced by breastfeeding mothers with preterm, low birth weight, or ill infants
  • Implement evidence-based interventions for special populations emphasizing the advantages of human milk
  • Design individualized care plans for mother and babies with unique needs, including multiples, jaundice, infants with cleft palates/lips, and neurological problems
