Target Audience:

Physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals who provide prenatal care, inpatient maternity care, and postpartum care.

Educational Objectives:

At the completion of this module participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate systems that support ongoing breastfeeding beyond hospital discharge and promote sustained breastfeeding for two years and beyond
  • Analyze the relationship between breastfeeding and maternal mental wellbeing
  • Identify local support systems and determine appropriate referrals pathways for breastfeeding support
  • Assess workplace lactation needs and interpret relevant laws and policies that protect breastfeeding employees
