This course is designed to provide the Physical Therapist with an introduction to the classification based approach to management of low back pain.
The Low Back pain module series is structured to present a format for evaluation and treatment of the lumbo-pelvic spine, utilizing strategies consistent with current evidence in literature. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing clinical decision-making skills regarding selection of patients appropriate for Physical Therapy, screening patients for neurological involvement and classification and treatment of simple back ache. The course includes online lectures and recorded demonstrations of techniques used in diagnosis and treatment. In addition to this, evidence supporting each method is included in the form of statement summaries, journal articles and article synopsis.
On completion of this module you will be able to:
- Identify sub-groups of patients eligible for stabilization
- Understand clinical outcomes that can be expected with use of stabilization for patients with LBP
- Tailor stabilization protocols for patients categorized as stabilization candidates
