Emergency medicine physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals who care for patients in the emergency setting.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Cite the incidence of delirium among elderly patients seen in the emergency setting
- Describe the frequency at which the diagnosis of delirium is missed in the ED and define strategies by which the accuracy of diagnosis may be improved
- Evaluate the consequences of missing the diagnosis of delirium
- Improve diagnostic skills for identifying delirium in the ED
- Develop strategies to manage delirium in the ED
This continuing nursing education activity has been approved for one contact hour by the UPMC Provider Unit of the PA State Nursing Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
