MODULE INTRODUCTION

Target Audience:

All representatives of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and hospital supply industries wishing to do business with or interact with employees, faculty, students, and/or trainees at UPMC or the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences (Graduate School of Public Health, School of Dental Medicine, School of Health and Rehabilitative Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy.

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the provisions of the UPMC/Schools of the Health Sciences Industry Relationships Policy as it relates to training and credentialing, site access, provision of gifts and meals, industry support, and pharmaceutical samples.
  • Understand training requirements for Industry representatives wishing to do business or conduct other professional activities at UPMC or the Schools of the Health Sciences
  • Implement strategies to assure compliance with the Policy.
  • Define potential sanctions that can be imposed on Industry Representatives and their employers for violations of the Policy.
