University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences eLearning Environment Internet-based Studies in Education and Research
- All Pitt laboratory workers:
As of 3/1/2022, Pitt laboratory workers must complete Bloodborne Pathogens training on the CITI platform.
- All Pitt researchers:
The IACUC has moved all animal research related training to the CITI platform. We have combined general research utilizing animals with both the small and large animal courses to reduce the number of courses everyone is required to take. In addition, we have updated the controlled substances course. The IACUC has adopted CITI’s species-specific courses that researchers will be required to complete dependent on the species used in the IACUC protocols. The new training regime will be located on the Training Page on the IACUC website.
Please note that new training for the small and large animal general courses will be required for new investigators/research staff and will be required every four years. This means that if you have previously completed the General courses, you will not be required to complete the new training until 3-4 years have passed. These changes will be implemented immediately.
- Important!!
UPMC has merged their CITI Training Course subscription with the University of Pittsburgh's CITI subscription effective June 8, 2017. This merger will eliminate the need for investigators and research team members to have accounts with both institutions. All UPMC and Pitt users will now access the CITI portal through the Pitt site at www.citi.pitt.edu.
The training information on the Office of Research Protections website (https://www.orp.pitt.edu/) provides detailed information on training courses and requirements. A concerted effort was made to consolidate as much training as possible within the CITI program. If you have any questions, email us at orp@pitt.edu.
For more information on requirements regarding the various HIPAA training modules, please check the "What is Required - HIPAA Modules"
Please notify us if you want to use any of these modules for education purposes; we will be happy to provide you with additional information.
